How can I make my CV better?
Start with the information a recruiter needs to understand your experience: a working email address, clear section headings, employment or project dates, and relevant skills. This free CV validator checks for these signals and turns them into an editable to-do list. You can run it as often as you need without creating an account.
Next, improve the substance of your experience section. Replace a general responsibility with what you did, the scope of the work, and a result you can support. For example, “Responsible for customer support” could become “Resolved 35 customer requests a day and reduced average response time from 6 hours to 3.” Use your own accurate figures. If you do not have a metric, describe the problem, the action, and the observable outcome.
What does this CV validator check?
The report covers contact information, experience or projects, education or training, skills, date ranges, measurable achievements, action-led statements, length, repeated or generic wording, and unfinished placeholders. It recognises common English and Polish section headings. Each check includes an explanation and a suggested next step.
The score is a checklist summary: each of the ten checks earns 10 points when detected, 5 when it needs review, or 0 for missing contact information or an unfinished placeholder. A missing heading may simply mean you used a different name. The 200–1,200 word range is a prompt for review, not a rule for every career; academic CVs and some senior roles need more detail.
Check your CV for readability before applying
An ATS-friendly CV starts with readable content. Use recognisable headings, consistent dates, and specific skills in context. Export a PDF with selectable text and check the extracted text below. Missing words or a scrambled order are reasons to review the document layout. This tool reads text; it does not certify compatibility with an employer’s applicant tracking system or inspect the visual design of your PDF.
Before sending, proofread names and spelling, open every portfolio link, and verify your dates and claims. Then use the CV job match checker to compare your CV with the actual job description. A well-structured CV and a relevant CV solve two different parts of the application process.
A few things to know.
How do I validate my CV for free?
Paste at least 40 words from your CV, or open a text-based PDF or TXT file up to 4 MB. Select “Check my CV” to see the checklist score, individual findings, and suggested improvements. You can edit and check again without signing up.
Can this tool make my CV better automatically?
It gives specific guidance on what to improve, including sections, achievement statements, and generic wording. You make the edits yourself. It does not rewrite your employment history or invent accomplishments.
Is this a CV checker or a resume checker?
It works with both a job-application CV and a resume. The same checks apply to common contact, experience, education, and skills sections. Longer academic CVs may correctly fall outside the length guideline.
Does the score predict whether I will get an interview?
No. It summarises ten text checks, not your qualifications or an employer’s decision. It is not an ATS score, a full grammar check, or a verification of the facts in your CV. Use the findings as a review checklist.
Is my CV uploaded or stored?
Your CV is processed in your browser. The checker does not upload its text or file, save it to an account, or send it to an AI provider. Use “Clear all” to remove the input and results, or close the tab when you finish.
Which files and languages are supported?
Use a PDF with selectable text or a plain TXT file, up to 4 MB and 10 PDF pages. You can also paste text from Word or Google Docs. Scanned images and password-protected PDFs are not supported. The checks recognise common English and Polish wording; other languages can produce incomplete feedback.
